Terms of Use

Last updated: 24 August 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using AfriTerminal ("the platform", "we", "us", "our") at afriterminal.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

These terms apply to all users - Free, Pro, Team, and Enterprise tiers.

2. Not Investment Advice

Nothing on AfriTerminal constitutes financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. All data, prices, charts, AI summaries, and analysis are provided for informational purposes only. Users who make investment decisions based on AfriTerminal data do so entirely at their own risk. AfriTerminal accepts no liability for any financial loss arising from use of this platform.

AfriTerminal is a data aggregation and display platform. It does not provide personalised investment recommendations, portfolio management, or regulated financial services of any kind.

3. Data Accuracy Disclaimer

All prices displayed on AfriTerminal are approximately 30 minutes delayed and are sourced from third-party providers including NGX Group, Yahoo Finance, the International Monetary Fund, the Central Bank of Nigeria, and the World Bank.

AfriTerminal does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data displayed on the platform. Users must verify all data against primary sources before making any financial, commercial, or investment decision.

4. AI-Generated & Statistical Content

AfriTerminal uses artificial intelligence to generate summaries of NGX corporate filings, daily market narratives, and alert content. These are AfriTerminal's derived analysis and are provided for informational purposes only. They may contain errors, omissions, or misinterpretations.

AfriTerminal also displays statistical and analytical outputs derived from its own datasets, including anomaly flags, statistical projections, peer comparisons, and implied valuation figures. These are data comparisons computed from historical figures. They are not price targets, forecasts, or recommendations of any kind, and each carries its own methodology notes, confidence indicators, and disclaimer. Figures extracted from filings below AfriTerminal's confidence threshold are withheld from display rather than shown unverified.

Always verify AI-generated content against the original filing document hosted on the NGX Group website. Original filing documents are hosted by and remain the copyright of the Nigerian Exchange Group and the respective listed companies.

Disclaimer shown on all AI summaries: "AI summary © AfriTerminal. Original document © NGX Group. For informational purposes only - verify against original filing."

5. Intellectual Property

AfriTerminal's charts, aggregated data, AI summaries, user interface, and codebase are AfriTerminal's intellectual property.

Raw regulatory filings displayed on the platform are hosted by and remain the copyright of the Nigerian Exchange Group and the respective listed companies. AfriTerminal links to originals and does not re-host filing content.

Macro and economic data sourced from the IMF, World Bank, and CBN is publicly available government data used with attribution.

6. Acceptable Use

You may use AfriTerminal for personal professional research, analysis, and reporting. You may not:

  • Scrape, copy, or systematically extract AfriTerminal data for redistribution or to build a competing product
  • Use automated tools to bulk-download data beyond your subscribed tier
  • Circumvent Pro, Team, or Enterprise feature gates
  • Share your account credentials with users outside your subscribed seat count
  • Represent AfriTerminal data as your own proprietary data in a commercial product

7. Direct Messages & Analyst Network

AfriTerminal offers optional 1:1 messaging between analysts, gated behind a mutual connection request. You control who you connect with and can block another user at any time; a block is silent and permanent from your side.

Messages you send are your own content and your own responsibility. You may not use Direct Messages to solicit trades, offer paid investment advice, harass another user, or send content unrelated to legitimate professional use of the platform. Messages containing the words "buy", "sell", or "hold" as investment direction are blocked automatically, on both the client and the server, consistent with Section 2 (Not Investment Advice) - this applies to messages between users just as it applies to AfriTerminal's own output.

AfriTerminal is not a party to, and accepts no liability for, the content or consequences of any conversation between users. Report abuse to info@afriterminal.com.

8. Portfolio Tracking

AfriTerminal lets you record NGX positions (ticker, shares, buy price) for your own personal tracking and analytics - concentration, FX sensitivity, benchmark-relative return, and correlation across your holdings.

Portfolio tracking is a record-keeping and analytics tool only. AfriTerminal is not connected to any brokerage or custodian, does not verify that a recorded position matches your real holdings, and never places, modifies, or executes a trade on your behalf. Every figure shown is computed from what you entered plus AfriTerminal's own market data - never a live account balance.

9. API Access

Where available to your tier, you may generate an API key to pull financial_history data (full-year figures only) programmatically, including via Excel/Power Query. By generating a key you agree to:

  • Keep your key confidential - you are responsible for all activity under it. Revoke it immediately at the dashboard if you believe it has been exposed.
  • Stay within your tier's daily request quota. Requests beyond the quota are rejected, not queued or charged.
  • Use API data for your own internal research and reporting, not for redistribution, resale, or building a competing data product (see Section 6, Acceptable Use).

A maximum of 5 active keys per user is enforced. AfriTerminal may revoke a key without notice if it is used in a way that violates these Terms or threatens the stability of the service.

10. Free Access & Future Subscriptions

AfriTerminal is currently free to use. No payment is taken, no card details are collected, and no feature is behind a paywall. Nothing converts automatically to a paid plan.

Paid subscription tiers are planned. Indicative pricing:

Team₦50,000/month₦450,000/year5

  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period
  • You may cancel at any time - cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
  • No refunds are provided for partial billing periods already paid
  • AfriTerminal reserves the right to change pricing with 30 days notice to existing subscribers

Payments are processed by Flutterwave. Nigerian Consumer Protection regulations apply.

11. Account Termination

AfriTerminal reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms of Use, with 30 days notice except in cases of fraud, abuse, or conduct harmful to other users or to the platform. In cases of material breach, termination may be immediate.

You may close your account at any time by contacting info@afriterminal.com.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, AfriTerminal shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from:

  • Use of or inability to use the platform
  • Inaccurate, delayed, or incomplete data
  • Investment decisions made based on platform data
  • Interruption or unavailability of the service
  • Content of a message sent or received via Direct Messages, or a connection formed through the analyst network

AfriTerminal's total liability to any user shall not exceed the subscription fees paid by that user in the 3 months preceding the claim.

13. Changes to These Terms

We announce changes to these Terms on the website: the "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. We recommend checking this page periodically. Continued use of AfriTerminal after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If a future change introduces charges or removes access to a feature you use, registered users receive email notice before it takes effect (see Section 10).

14. Governing Law

These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

This choice of governing law applies to all subscription tiers - Free, Pro, Team, and Enterprise - regardless of the user's country of residence.
